The last time I went to the doctor, I was amazed. She pulled out this sensor that she placed on my forehead. It calculated my body temperature in no time and with almost 0% touch on my skin. A lot of major surgeries are now being handled by sensors and devices that give lesser chances for human errors or malfunctions. For example the X-ray medical imaging, before it used to provide just the X-ray images but now it creates high-quality and 3-D medical images that in recent years made medical imaging a very important aspect of clinical care today.
Advances in Astronomy and Astrophysics
Today we are sending satellites to find life in Mars. We are using a very advanced and senior most part of electronics miles and miles away from station contact so that we can find another sustainable place for life. NASA, ISRO etc.. are working day and night with sensors, diodes, machines, remote sensors, antennas, cameras etc.

Of course, the world is getting smaller and we can easily get to see our loved ones any minute at anytime. They say that necessity is the mother of invention. So, In the attempt of reducing the size and increasing the performance, we can say electronic engineering was revolutionized by nanotechnology. A very simple example would be the memory card in your mobile phone. It can store so much of data and imagine its size!. The electronics these days use graphene which is an allotrope of carbon. It induces flexibility, durability as well as electrical conductivity.

The Silicon Valley is dominating the industry now but there might be some alterations like choice of programming language or application frameworks which will again rely on the current trends but the algorithm, architecture as well as data structures etc. will remain roughly the same. But again, computer science is completely controlled by the hardwares that is used and from which it is based. Computer science is believed to evolve as technology evolves.
Though it is easier to land into software jobs and just in case if you interested to settle down sooner with a computer engineering degree but with electronics engineering and seeing the scope of Artificial Intelligence getting induced day to day in the common life will land you to prestigious jobs- even for jobs where you work for the government.
